A detailed digital line drawing of ʻAlalā (Hawaiian crow). The crow is drawn in deep violet and indigo lines on a white background.
ʻAlalā (Hawaiian crow)

Meet the ʻAlalā – also known as the Hawaiian crow. Man, I really wish I could observe one of these birds, but they are extinct in the wild. And I’m not quite sure if any of the conservation groups takes visitors. Maybe I could convince someone to let me in to their private forest with a sketchbook. I’d probably live there. Anyways….

I used a photo from https://science.sandiegozoo.org/species/alala as my reference. Using ProCreate, I started with some basic outlines of the photo. Then, I added in the colors using a watercolor brush. I then finalized all the feathery lines using an ink brush.

Hope you like it!
