Misty Waialua Mountains in acrylic paint

I made this painting of misty mountains today in my Ugly Books sketchbook. I love using these books because the colors are bright and bold enough for a solid under painting. Also, the pages hold up pretty good to paint and ink too. Great for trying new ideas and not being precious about it.

This scene is what I marvel at on my way home from the beach. I can’t believe they want to build some kind of recreational gondola on this mountain. It sounds like a trashy idea to me. The best things you can do for scenes like these are preserve them for future eyes. Both through painting and conservation of natural spaces.
